MY STORY
Most dreams remain dreams… but not all of them.
My name is Rutger Steenbergen, aka Bombario // De Facto. When I was about 12 years old, house music took the Netherlands by storm. It was the early nineties and the time of acid, Detroit Techo and The Second Summer Of Love.
The hard beats and exciting rhythms immediately grabbed me. I wanted to make that music too!
A few years later I bought my first synthesizer, a Roland MC-303. Trance became popular, and I started making this style of music. I produced several tracks, and made it even to the Future Music demo CD, at age 19.
As enthusiastic as I was, I approached dozens of record companies. One of them reacted. “Your production sucks, but we like your melodies.”
The record company had my song “The Beginning” remixed by Johan Gielen, a popular DJ at the time. And it came out on CD singles and dozens of compilation CDs. Now I was really a producer!
Or so I thought…
My debut single ‘The Beginning’ was released in 2000.
The communication with the record company was difficult. And I had to do things I didn’t want to do. After one release, we parted ways. And my ‘career’ came to an abrupt end.
For the next 15 years I continued making music. But I never sent any demos again, ’cause I didn’t think my tracks were good enough.
Until it became 2019...
Through YouTube, I discovered Melodic Techno. The style immediately appealed to me: melodic, rhythmic and musical. Like trance, but slower, and more subtle.
I decided to make that style of music and finally sent another demo, in 2020. Without any expectations…
The next day I received an email, with the first line:
“We’d love to release your track!”
I couldn’t believe it when I read it, but it was true. The French label Teoxane Production wanted to release my track “Aurora. And so, after 20 years, I made a relaunch as an artist.
After that, things went fast. Many successful singles followed, and with “Somnium” even a debut album. I also debuted as a live act in Paris in 2021. And that tastes like more!
Today, as Bombario, I make melodic techno, melodic house and progressive house. These styles suit me perfectly and my ambitions are sky-high.
So get ready for many more new releases and performances. ‘Cause Bombario is ready to rule the world! 😁
